In February 2026, PLAN Foundation, with the generous support of MiracleFeet, intensified statewide awareness, advocacy, and partnership efforts to promote early detection and free treatment of clubfoot across Oyo State and beyond.

Our activities focused on community engagement, health systems strengthening, and strategic collaboration to ensure that every child born with clubfoot is identified early and promptly enrolled in MiracleFeet-supported facilities for treatment.

Hospital-Based Sensitization in Ibadan

We commenced continuous sensitization sessions every Tuesday and Friday at Oni Memorial Children’s Hospital, Ring Road, Ibadan to increase knowledge about clubfoot, promote early detection, and encourage timely enrolment for free treatment.

Through direct engagement with caregivers, expectant parents, and healthcare seekers, these sessions are correcting misconceptions, reducing stigma, and strengthening referral pathways driving meaningful change in how clubfoot is identified and managed within communities.

Community Outreach at Omi-Adio Market (February 5, 2026)

Awareness activities were conducted at Omi-Adio Market, a major rural trading hub in Ibadan that attracts thousands of farmers, traders, and buyers from neighboring settlements. The outreach provided an opportunity to reach underserved rural populations, dispel myths surrounding clubfoot, reduce stigma, and inform families about the availability of free treatment at MiracleFeet-supported facilities.

An advocacy and awareness session was delivered during the Quarterly State General Meeting of the Oyo State Park Management System, attended by approximately 1,000 transport leaders, including the State Chairman and executive members.

Engaging transport stakeholders is critical, as they influence mobility and information flow across communities. Their support strengthens awareness dissemination and referral linkages across the state.

Engagement with Community Birth Attendants

Advocacy sessions were conducted with leaders of Community Birth Attendants drawn from 11 Local Government Areas in the Ibadan zone (February 13, 2026), as well as with CBA leaders in Egbeda Local Government Area (February 10, 2026).

These engagements focused on strengthening early detection at birth, ensuring prompt referral, and expanding community-level awareness so that no child with clubfoot is left untreated.

Clinical Early Detection and Referral (EDR) Training

A Clinical Early Detection and Referral training session for healthcare workers was conducted at State Hospital Abeokuta on February 13, 2026. The session reinforced clinical competencies in identifying clubfoot at birth and ensuring timely referral for appropriate treatment.
