Giving Every Smile a Chance: Free Treatment for Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate

You are currently viewing Giving Every Smile a Chance: Free Treatment for Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate

Every child deserves a healthy start in life and every smile deserves a chance.

Cleft lip and cleft palate are conditions that occur when a baby’s lip or mouth does not form completely during pregnancy. Children born with cleft lip and/or cleft palate may have difficulty feeding, speaking, or breathing properly. They may also face stigma, discrimination, or social isolation as they grow.

The good news is this: cleft lip and cleft palate can be treated and treatment is FREE.

UNDERSTANDING CLEFT LIP AND CLEFT PALATE

  • Cleft lip appears as an opening or split in the upper lip.
  • Cleft palate occurs when there is an opening in the roof of the mouth.
  • Some children are born with both conditions.

These conditions are not caused by spiritual forces, curses, or wrongdoing by parents. They are medical conditions that can be corrected through proper treatment and care.

With timely medical intervention, children with cleft lip and palate can live healthy, confident, and fulfilling lives.

Early Care Saves Lives

Early identification and referral are very important. When children receive care early:

  • Feeding and nutrition improve
  • Speech development is supported
  • The risk of complications is reduced
  • Children grow with confidence and dignity

Many adults and young people living with cleft conditions can also benefit from treatment and support. It is never too late to seek help.
