World Humanitarian Day 2024: PLAN Foundation Calls for Global Action

On August 19, as the world observes World Humanitarian Day, PLAN Health Advocacy and Development Foundation (PLAN Foundation) proudly aligns with global efforts to raise awareness and inspire action under this year’s theme, “Act for Humanity.” This theme highlights the urgent need for collective action to tackle some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. It also emphasizes the potential each individual and organization holds to make a meaningful impact in a world increasingly burdened by crises.

PLAN Foundation seizes this opportunity to spotlight the severe humanitarian needs in Nigeria, especially in the North East, including Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States, as well as other critically affected regions such as Benue, Katsina, Plateau, and Kaduna States. The hardships faced by millions of individuals displaced by persistent conflicts, natural disasters, and other crises demand immediate attention and action.

From ongoing insurgencies and conflicts to the devastating effects of climate change, these regions endure significant challenges, with displaced families struggling to access essential services and basic necessities. The interconnected nature of these crises further underscores the need for sustained humanitarian support and global solidarity.

In light of these urgent needs, PLAN Foundation calls for renewed global commitment to alleviate suffering, foster peace, and protect the environment. It is not too late to make a difference. Together, we can strive for a more stable and equitable world.
