2-Day Workshop for Embassy Team Members on Evidence Gathering, Monitoring & Evaluation Strategies and Tools Venue: University of Ibadan Conference Centre, Ibadan. Date: October 1 - 2, 2024
The 2-day workshop for the EMBASSY team members focused on enhancing skills in evidence gathering, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E) strategies and tools. The workshop was structured to build capacity in developing robust monitoring frameworks and integrating social media as a tool for evidence gathering. Below is a detailed account of the workshop proceedings:
Day 1: Introduction to M&E and Evidence Gathering
The session commenced with a comprehensive presentation by Mr. Siji Ganiyu on Introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and evidence gathering methods. He emphasized the importance of a systematic process for creating a monitoring framework to track the progress and performance of projects against their objectives.

1. Developing a Monitoring Framework:
• Purpose and Scope: Participants were guided to clarify the purpose of monitoring, identify key objectives, and define the scope of activities, outputs, and outcomes.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Emphasis was placed on identifying stakeholders, their roles, and their information needs.
2. Setting Indicators and Targets:
• Steps to Set Indicators and Targets:
• Align indicators with program goals and objectives.
• Focus on critical areas such as service delivery, beneficiary satisfaction, and resource utilization.
• Use SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) criteria for defining indicators.
• Engage stakeholders to ensure the relevance and usability of indicators.
