First Quarterly Update Meeting of the Project Working Group
Location: Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disability, Board Room, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan. Date: Wednesday, August 28th, 2024. Time: 12:00 PM.
The first quarterly update meeting of the Project Working Group for the EMBASSY Project was convened on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, at the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disability’s board room. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, with participants attending both in person and virtual.
All members of the Project Working Group were in attendance comprising of representatives from the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Oyo State Chapter Mrs. Oniyide Roseline and Mr. Lawal Kayode and Evangelist Olu Kayode representing Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disability (OYAPD) and PLAN Foundation staff members were also in attendance and actively engaged in the discussions.
Key Achievements
The Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of PLAN Foundation presented a comprehensive report on the activities carried out since the inception of the EMBASSY Project.


The key activities highlighted included:
1. Sensitization visits to key stakeholders in preparation for the EMBASSY Project.
2. An orientation, introduction, and objective-setting meeting for the Project Working Group (PWG).
3. Mapping of key decision-makers, influencers, stakeholders, and policymakers, coupled with a baseline survey on disability focus and inclusion within the mapped institutions.
4. A 2-day stakeholders’ sensitization and consensus-building meeting, including orientation for Embassy Team members.
5. A 2-day desk review of publications and materials to develop a training manual and curriculum on sexual and reproductive health services for women with disabilities.
6. A 3-day workshop focused on developing the training manual and curriculum for healthcare workers on sexual and reproductive health services for women with disabilities.

The members also discussed on the progress of the SRH training manual for healthcare workers in preparation for printing and official launch. Also, the next activity which is the 3-day workshop for healthcare workers in disability-friendly healthcare facilities was also discussed on extensively
Recommendations
During the meeting, members of the Project Working Group proposed leveraging on the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disability (OYAPD) WhatsApp and other platforms to disseminate information on sexual and reproductive health to various clusters of their members.
They also suggested that pictorial information materials should be shared within designated facility to enhance information of SRH among persons with disabilities.
At the end of the meeting PWG renew their commitment to advance the goals of the EMBASSY Project, focusing on the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities in the realm of sexual and reproductive health services.
