Introduction

After the stakeholder sensitization visit, there was the Establishment and Orientation of the Project Planning and Implementation Team. This meeting was held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. The purpose of this session was to assemble key personnel, provide comprehensive scope of the project’s objectives, and align the team on strategies and implementation plans for the successful Implementation of the ACCESS Project.

Team Composition

The members for the Project Planning and Implementation Team comprised of five PLAN Foundation staff and seven members of the public representing different groups including, religious leaders, lawyers, health educators and other members of the society. This diverse group was carefully selected to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to project planning and execution. Each member brought a unique set of skills and expertise to contribute to the project’s success.

Session Highlights

The orientation session commenced with participant introductions, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and fostering teamwork among the attendees. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by the Program Manager of PLAN Foundation, who set the tone for the event. The Program Manager also provided a concise yet comprehensive overview of the Accelerating Community Commitment Towards Expanding Sexual and Reproductive Health Services for Women and Girls in Oyo State (Access Project). This overview detailed the project’s vision, mission, and the significance of the initiative in addressing sexual and reproductive health challenges faced by women and girls in the Oyo State.

Review of Project Milestones and Objectives

A key segment of the session was led by the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, who provided an in-depth review of the project’s milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs). This presentation ensured that all team members had a clear understanding of the measurable objectives and expected outcomes of the project. The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer highlighted the critical milestones achieved to date and outlined the benchmarks for future success.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Executive Director of PLAN Foundation conducted a detailed session on the roles and responsibilities of the Project Planning and Implementation Team. This segment was instrumental in shedding light on the specific duties and expectations of each team member, ensuring a shared understanding of their contributions to the project’s overall success. The discussion also emphasized accountability and the importance of a collaborative approach to project execution.

Primary Objectives of the Orientation

The main goal of the orientation session was to align the team on the project’s direction, strategies, and implementation plans. By establishing a shared vision and fostering a unified approach, the session aimed to:

  • Enhance team cohesion and collaboration.
  • Provide clarity on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Equip team members with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective implementation.
  • Lay the groundwork for a coordinated and impactful execution of the Access Project.

Conclusion

The establishment and orientation of the Project Planning and Implementation Team marked a significant milestone in the progression of the Access Project. By bringing together a dedicated and well-informed team, this session set the stage for a successful implementation phase.
